Main Information
Tour half day visits: a private driver at your service to make you discover Marrakech. He will drop you off at the Majorelle Garden, a must-see, then take you to the palm grove, to the Bahia Palace in the medina, then to the new town. It is really a discovery tour of the city with two stops to visit.
The Majorelle Garden was planted by the French painter Jacques Majorelle and later saved by Yves Saint Laurent. It is a small botanical garden of bamboo, cactus and water basins built around the famous cobalt blue villa, and it is the busiest sight in Marrakech, so we go early when we can.
The Bahia Palace was built in the late nineteenth century for a grand vizier. You walk through courtyards of orange trees and a series of rooms with painted cedar ceilings, carved stucco and zellige tilework, still among the best preserved in the city.
Between the two stops the driver takes you through the Palmeraie, the old palm grove north of the city, past the Koutoubia mosque with its twelve century minaret, the Menara gardens and their pavilion facing the Atlas, and through Gueliz, the new town built in the French period, with its cafes and wide avenues.
The tour ends wherever suits you, usually at Jemaa el-Fna or back at your hotel.
